The Mississippi Mud Match was given its name due to the uncertainty of who was actually involved in the match at any one time. Six men start the match. Every time a man is pinned or forced to submit, he must go to a penalty box cage. He stays until the wrestler who put him into the cage is pinned or forced to submit. The winner of the match is the one who can pin all five of his opponents in succession. Another rule was added that any wrestler who had been pinned by all five other wrestlers were automatically eliminated from the match. Many fans loved the Mississippi Mud Match, but promoters didn't like to schedule them often because they took up the majority of the card.
